Famous lyricist, dramatist man Jyoti Prasad Agarwalla 

 born on 17th June, 1903 . First president of the Assam 

branch of the Indian People's Theatre Association (IPTA). 

Gave music to and composed innumberable songs.

 Rupkonwar was added to his name as an honour . In 1935, 

he made the first Assames movie Joymati and later on 

Indramalati. Dramas published : Sonit kuwari (The Princes 

of Sonitpur), Karengar Ligiri (The Maid of the 

Court),  Labhita, Rupalim , Neemati Koina. Poetry : Luitar 

Paror Agnisur . Other literary works, Jyotidhara, Geeti-

Ramayan, Chandra-Kumar Agarwalla etc. Died on 17th 

January, 1951 .
